You can listen to episode 128 here:

Unless you live in an English-speaking country or have to speak English at work, speaking is one of those activities that requires you to be proactive. Unless you create situations in which you’ll have to speak, you won’t have to do it.

If you want to improve your speaking skills, you really need to speak, but there are things that you can do to make life easier for yourself:

* If you don’t know enough to make things interesting – work on your vocabulary. However this doesn’t replace actually speaking.
* Put yourself in situations where you have something to talk about. Find people who share your interests.
* Find someone who can give you feedback – whether that’s a teacher, a native speaker who is learning your language, or another language learner.
* Learn in a low-pressure environment – not when you’re supposed to be giving an important presentation at work.
* Don’t be afraid to make mistakes – that’s how we learn.
* Do it regularly – once a month won’t help.
* Get your brain into the habit of thinking in English – even if noone else is around.
* Try to think in English, rather than translating everything you want to say from your native language.
