To be honest, languages were never my favourite subjects but studying electrical engineering also includes improving language skills. 90% of my answers were wrong in the grammar part of my English exam in January 2013 but I passed the course with luck!
In December 2012 a friend had answered questions on Kirsty’s Facebook page “English with Kirsty” and I remembered that and I asked her for help.
In our lessons we talk about several topics or also about certain topics I need for my English class. It isn’t possible to compare her lessons with a lesson at school because they are more personal. Making mistakes and asking questions are allowed and she has a very good way of explaining things in an easy way. I really like the way she teaches and I’m very happy to work with her.

Englisch macht mir wieder Spaß!
Englischunterricht per Internet – es gibt für mich keine komfortablere Möglichkeit, regelmäßig Englisch zu üben, von zu Hause aus, mit Themen, die mich interessieren und mit Inhalten die ich sowohl beruflich als auch privat nutzen kann. In der Schule war Englisch zuletzt wirklich nicht mein Lieblingsfach. Aber für mich ist es wichtig, dranzubleiben. Und mit „English With Kirsty“ bereitet mir das Lernen wieder viel Freude. Außerdem stärkt Kirsty mein Selbstvertrauen, Englisch zu sprechen.

Due to my job it was always so difficult to find a suitable English course. After trying some late Evening courses, I was sure I needed private lessons with a native speaker. It was from the very beginning so easy to communicate with Kirsty and to arrange an appointment. And it is so convenient doing the English classes at home via Skype.
I have been doing these classes now for 10 months and I have improved my English communication skills a lot, thanks to Kirsty’s professional method. The classes with her are so pleasant. We speak about almost every topic – hobbies, travel, current happenings in the world and much more. Sometimes we find the topic spontaneously, sometimes I am sent some articles that I can read and prepare in advance.
The classes usually pass by so quickly. Kirsty has a big talent for teaching English. She can explain things very clearly and in detail, and she gives you the opportunity to speak a lot. I am really happy that I work with her!

Hallo beginners,
ich möchte Euch gerne ein bisschen von meinen Erfahrungen beim Englisch lernen berichten.
Begonnen hat alles mit den Reisen ins Ausland. Überall kommst Du mit Englisch weiter. Da meine Schulzeit eine Weile her ist, brauchte ich dringend neue Möglichkeiten zum lernen.
Zuerst versuchte ich es über die Volkshochschule. Ein Kurs mit 8-10 Leuten in den Abendstunden.
Ja, ein bisschen bringt es schon, aber bei der Kursgröße kannst du dir vorstellen, wie oft du gefordert bist. Dann die Idee mit der Sprachreise. Habe einen Kurs gefunden in Edingburgh mit nur drei Teilnehmern. Eine ganze Woche üben, auch in der Gastfamilie.
Danach war die VHS passé. Ich bin im Internet auf die Suche gegangen nach einer passenden Möglichkeit für mich Englisch zu lernen: Lernen in einer kleinen Gruppe, zu einer Zeit, wenn einem noch nicht der Kopf auf den Schreibtisch sinken will.
Und dann fand ich Kirsty: Einzelstunden oder zu Zweit, von Montag bis Freitag, von morgens bis abends. Alles über Skype, du brauchst nicht mal aus dem Haus.
Du lernst absolut individuell. Wünsch Dir was Du lernen willst und Kirsty wird es mit Dir üben. Nicht nur die Themen: Urlaub, Beruf und Familie. Es gibt ja noch so viel mehr.
Wenn Du magst, kannst du zwischendurch üben: Eine kleine Hausaufgabe erledigen. Kirsty korrigiert und erklärt die Fehler. Zur aktuellen Stunde erhältst du Notizen und kannst so aus deinen Fehlern lernen.
Ich jedenfalls bin begeistert von dieser Möglichkeit mit Kirsty enlisch lernen und kann sie nur wärmstens weiterempfehlen. Seit anderthalb Jahren bin ich nun dabei. Ich lese und verstehe inzwischen ganze Romane in englisch, schaue Filme und kann mich ganz gut verständigen. Einzig der Gedanke an die unerfahrenen unter euch hat mich leiten lassen, dies in deutsch zu schreiben.

I was looking for an English teacher who could improve my speaking skills, because I had a mental block when I wanted to talk to people in English. I also need a lot more vocabulary and grammar skills, but I’m not the kind of person who wanted to learn in a language school again, as I did before, because there you don’t speak that much.
Kirsty teaches in a very casual way but nevertheless she is very professional.
I have a lot of fun in our lessons. We talk about everything and anything and besides I’m improving my English skills.

Two years ago we were looking for an opportunity to help our daughter (15) gain the necessary practise and self-confidence needed to speak English without too much thinking. Her English teachers at school focussed a lot on grammar and vocabulary. Luckily we heard from a friend about Kirsty’s way of teaching English. Since then our daughter has been taking lessons and improving week by week. We are all very satisfied with the results and do not know any better and more efficient way to learn. For me the lessons with Kirsty are still helpful even though I do speak english but it still improves my writing and especially my grammar. Her lessons are informative but we do also have fun and she is trying to make it interesting by giving me articles to translate either into English or into German which for me is always a nice challange.
