1. Which country are you from?

I come from Germany.

2. Why is it important for you to be able to speak English?

When I started working I translated texts from German into English and therefore it was important for me to have a good level of English.
Now I’m still thinking about working with languages so it still continues to be important for me to keep a high level of English.

3. Have you ever been to England? If so, where did you go and what did you do?

Yes, I have been to England – I went to Tonbridge, Kent to improve my English. I participated in a one to one course.

4. Where do you go to find information in English? This could be written or audio information.

I have several websites to look up words in dictionaries like http://leo.org or http://dict.cc etc.
I also read some of the articles on the BBC website and also listen to the podcasts from them.

5. Do you have a favourite book or song in English?

From a friend of mine I borrowed “The Hobbit” by J.R.R. Tolkien – and I really liked reading it, although it sometimes wasn’t that easy. I also liked the Harry Potter books.

h3> 6..Do you have any friends or tandem partners with whom you can practise your English? If so, where did you find them?

I found some of my friends through English groups on Facebook or in mailing lists.

7. If you could change one thing about the English language, what would it be?

Well, I don’t know… The tenses are quite difficult.

10. How do you make sure that you remember new words?

I’m learning with flashcards and I also read many different texts where I look up the words on the internet
