New things, new life, new workshop

I believe we should always be open to try new things.

2 weeks ago, I went to a local farm. I enjoy spending time with the animals, especially the donkeys. They are so chilled and I feel better for being in their company. It’s no secret that many of my examples for grammar explanations in my classes have something to do with animals 🐶

I have always had a connection to nature and animals. When I was growing up, I had several friends who lived on farms. Now I live in a large town, so I appreciate the chance to go to the farm sometimes 🐐

While I was at the farm, a lamb was born right in front of me. I’d never experienced that before and there’s something magical about that moment where new life comes into the world 🐑

There’s so much talk about new beginnings on the 1st of January, but when it’s so cold and wintry outside, it often feels like the wrong time to start anything new. We often have neither the energy for it nor the drive and motivation to carry out new plans.

But when I witnessed the lamb being born, it made me think of the transition from Winter to springtime, other kinds of new beginnings, or things starting to grow and come alive.

I don’t have a word for my 2024, but I do know that it will be a journey for me to discover and try new things. Ok, life itself is a journey and an adventure, but I know that part of my growth this year personally and as a business owner is about offering new services, starting with the course for translators that I launched in January and the interactive workshops, which will begin this month.

I will also be using the things that I’ve been learning (I’ve already agreed to do a talk in Romanian in March).

There will be continuity as well, but if you want to see growth and development, you have to be willing to change things up a bit, knowing that it might feel a bit scary as you go out of your comfort zone.

I don’t believe that there’s a perfect time. If it feels right for you, any time is a good time to start something new or different. Having said that, as the days are getting longer and the first signs of new life are beginning to appear, I am excited about new things and new possibilities.

How about you? Are you hoping to start or try anything new in the next weeks or months?

“Interactive workshop – using podcasts to improve your language skills

So, my new thing for February is the first in a series of interactive workshops that will help you to communicate effectively in English and find innovative ways to make your language learning journey more enjoyable and productive.

Find out more on the workshop’s web page, where I also posted a video about the workshop, why I’m doing it, who will benefit, and what will happen on the day!

I love podcasts and they’ve helped me a lot as a language learner. In the past I used them for German and Turkish. Now I’m looking for podcasts to help me with my Romanian and European Portuguese learning journey – any recommendations are welcome!

I want to share some of the strategies that I’ve developed so that I can help others too.

Sign up if you’d like to find the right podcasts to meet your learning needs and then use those podcasts to develop a wide range of language skills – it’s not just about listening!

I work with multilingual professionals who want to develop their English, but these learning strategies will work for other languages too.

Let me know if you have any questions and I hope to see you there!
