“I don’t know!”
In this episode I show you some vocabulary so that you can say a bit more than just “I don’t know” to customers and colleagues.

This is the vocabulary that I mentioned during the episode:
Different ways of saying the same thing:
- I don’t know
- I have no idea/no idea
- I haven’t got a clue
You aren’t sure
- I believe that
- I think that
- I’m not 100% sure but
I don’t know for certain but
You’ll need to check, but I think
2. you will help
- I don’t know but I’ll find out
- I don’t have that information at the moment but I will call you back/email you/let you know when I have it.
- I don’t know I’ll get back to you by the end of the day.
- I’m not sure about that. Leave it with me and I’ll find out.
- I need to speak with a colleague first but I’ll come back to you later.
- I need to check the details and I’ll come back to you when I’ve done that.
- Unfortunately I can’t remember. I’ll send you an email to confirm the details later.
3. you offer a suggestion
- I don’t know the answer to that but you could ask …
- I’m not sure. Have you looked in the file/on the intranet/in the HR manual?
- You could try calling/emailing/speaking with …
- That’s not something that we deal with in this department. You need to contact … (The number is …)
- The information that you are looking for is on our website. (I’ll send you the link.)
- Unfortunately I can’t help you with that but you could…
