Welcome to my networking for language professionals online events schedule! I update this with new events so you can see the full list at any time instead of wondering when the next event will be if you’ve just missed one

Frequently asked questions

Do the dates and times change?

Generally the days and times don’t change, but sometimes the schedule has to change if I’m on holiday or there’s a public holiday that affects a large number of the participants.

Usually it works like this:

  • First week – later networking in English (16:00 UK time)
  • 2nd week – networking in GErman (12:30 UK time)
  • 3rd week – earlier networking in English (11:00 UK time)

Can I bring my friends or colleagues?

Sure – I’m always happy when people help me spread the word about the events and I love to meet new people. Just pass along the link and they can sign up. Also, if you’ve enjoyed an event and you want to share about it on LinkedIn, please tag me and I’ll share it too!

Are your events only relevant to people who want to improve their English?

I do run events specifically for people in this situation, such as the conversation club, but these networking events are not for language practise, They’re for meeting people, sharing tips and ideas, helping each other where we can, and having interesting conversations.

Can anyone come along?

Well, the clue is in the name! The meetings are for language professionals – so if you’re not working with language in some way, the meetings won’t be for you. But this definition of language professionals is quite broad. Most people who come are translators and interpreters, but we’re also happy to see others who use language as teachers, writers, voice artists, or in some other role in the language field. We’re also primarily a group of freelancers. You can still come along if you have an in-house role and you’re interested, but many of the topics are around running a freelance business and may be less relevant for you.

Sign up if you:

  • Are interested in meeting new people from different countries and different areas of the language industry
  • Want to exchange ideas, share tips, help people with challenges for which you might have a solution, or want to bring your questions
  • Spend a lot of time working alone and would like to build your network in a human-centred way. This may then lead to collaborations, skill swaps, referrals etc, but we start with the genuine connections and these other things happen naturally.
  • Are willing to share what you’ve learned with your virtual colleagues or to let them know about a useful book/tool/webinar/newsletter etc that you’ve discovered.

Don’t sign up if you:

  • Have nothing to do with the language industry and are not considering working in this area
  • Want to talk more than you listen – I work hard to create spaces where everyone’s voice can be heard
  • Just want to sell your services. There are networking events for that. This isn’t one of them!
  • Are a company who wants to target freelancers with your products. These meetings are by an independent professional for independent professionals. Also, see the point above about selling.
