How much does it cost to work with me?

It’s important to me to offer a range of services. People have different needs, different learning styles or preferences, different budgets, and they’re at different stages of their language or business journeys.

When we’re researching who might be the right fit to work with us, often one of the first things we check is the price, to see whether something is in our budget. However, especially in terms of services, this information can be hard to find or not there at all. I want to be transparent, so I’ve set it out here – but there are a couple of things to remember:

  • Sometimes there is more than one option, which will also change the price. The price for the individualised English training is right, but it can vary according to which package you book. buying 10 English lessons is cheaper per lesson than 5, and there are additional out-of-hours rates for lessons outside of my usual working hours.
  • Some packages are priced per session, whereas others are courses, which means the value isn’t calculated in terms of dividing the price by the number of sessions, so don’t focus entirely on the number of hours vs. number of sessions.
  • Sometimes I receive questions about payment. All of my prices are in £ because I’m based in the UK. I take credit card payments on my website using Stripe . If you’re in mainland Europe and use Euros, we can also convert the amount and you pay in Euros by bank transfer, which is usually cheaper for both of us. If you use a different currency, I can check whether I can receive bank transfers in your currency too.

I’ve seen advice not to publish lists like this so that customers aren’t drawn to the cheapest option, but all of this information is on my website anyway and I think we should have more trust in our potential customers to figure out what’s right for them! So here’s the list!

Free events and information sharing

I organise free networking events for language professionals. These are for anyone in the language industry to meet and exchange ideas with colleagues – it’s not just for people who want to work on their spoken English – though of course you can use them for that as well.

There’s also the podcast – it’s not a course, but through my solo episodes with tips and my conversations and pannel episodes with a wide range of experts, there’s plenty to learn!

Group conversation practice memberships

The most affordable way to work with me is in the group membership programmes – for freelancers and general English. They aren’t courses and their lower prrice point reflects that. They are organised and welcoming spaces to develop your spoken English whilst having conversations about subjects that are relevant to you.

£7 per session – conversation Cafe

My monthly Conversation cafe is a membership for people who want to talk about general topics including food, travel, books, hobbies – anything that isn’t business!

You buy one or more sessions and are charged for the meetings that you attend.

£10 per session – conversation club

These Conversation club groups have a maximum of 5 participants and they are aimed at freelancers or independent professionals who want to have regular opportunities to speak English in a menaingful way. The sessions take the form of a short presentation, followed by a discussion, or a more in-depth facilitated discussion.
It’s not a course, but the learning comes through having real opportunities to speak English and to learn something relevant to growing or running your business at the same time.

The freelancer group has a maximum of 6 participants in each group so that the groups don’t get too big.

You buy one or more sessions and are charged for the meetings that you attend. However, attendees are encouraged to attend regularly as we build trust and grow together as a group.

Group course for translators

This is the only group programme I offer because, when building groups, I believe it’s really important to bring people together with the same objectives. That’s why I focus on freelance translators who want to use their spoken English to be more visible and engage with others so that they can develop their businesses and communicate with the type of direct clients that they want to attract.

£199 – Reactivate your English – speaking skills for freelance translators

Next comes my group training programme, where there is a maximum of 3 freelance translators in each group, so everyone has the chance to participate actively. It’s cheaper than one-to-one training and you get the benefit of working with others who have the same objectives.

Individual training

Finally, I have various options for programmes where you work with me one-to-one. These are individual programmes so we can concentrate on your specific needs, questions, and challenges.

£45 – Presentations training

This is not where I write your presentation for you! But if you have a presentation coming up at a conference or event, the presentations training is where I can help you to practise delivering it confidently, advise you on any language improvements that you could make, and help you to prepare to respond calmly and spontaneously to questions.

If needed, you can purchase one or two further sessions for the same project at £35 each .

£45 interview training

Preparing for a job interview can be stressful, but this interview training gives you a chance to practise talking about yourself, your career history, your plans and ambitions in a relaxed and positive environment. You’ll still have to do the interview, but you’ll have identified and plugged any vocabulary gaps and had the chance to implement any language tips or feedback.

If needed, you can purchase one or two further sessions for the same project at £35 each .

£145 Find your own way – 5 customised English lessons

This is the more traditional language training or tutoring where we focus on the individual language topics where you need support.

Buying 10 sessions instead of 5 reduces the price per session slightly. There are also limited out-of-hours sessions before 09:00 and after 18:00 UK time. The price for these reflects the fact that they are outside of my usual working hours.

£329 – 8 weeks to develop your public speaking skills

You may have something specific in mind, or you may want to do the groundwork to prepare yourself for future opportunities. Either way, we can customised this public speaking programme to meet your needs. It’s a structured journey through some of the considerations for public speaking in an additional language with support, practical exercises, and implementable feedback to not only deliver your content in public, but to do it in a way that feels like you.

£479 – discover your voice in English – 11 week mentoring programme

Language mentoring is not language training. I can still give you support with language-related topics, but it’s more than that. We’re looking at your journey with English so far and where you’d like that road to go in the future. We’re exploring how you’d like to use your voice in English, what might be getting in the way, and what you can do about it. If you’re the voice of your business, we’re looking at how you can be yourself to create real connections with others when you’re using English. The programme is based around a journey through nature and the stops along the way are opportunities for you to discover your English identity.

£499 – Expand your reach – consultancy service for trainers and coaches (full day)

This package is for trainers and coaches who have an established course that they are delivering in a language other than English. It’s a consultancy servvice rather than a course, so we focus our attention where you need it so that you can amplify your message and reach an English-speaking audience. The 7 hours don’t need to be taken at once and we can focus on areas such as course content, delivery, responding spontaneously to questions or helping participants to understand, localising your product for an international audience, onboarding, marketing, and messaging.

A smaller, 3.5 hour half-day package is also available, but the cost per hour is higher.

Do you have any questions?

Sometimes I am asked about differences between specific programmes and which one would be best. If you have been wondering about one or more programmes, send me a message and we can talk about what you want to achieve with your spoken English and how I can help. No sales pitch – just curiosity to see whether I have what you’re looking for!
