New year, new job?

Your chance to win free CV or interview training

Some new year’s resolutions are broken after the first week in January. However, rather than just thinking about what they will or won’t do during the next 12 months, for many people, the new year is a good time to change the things with which they’re not happy or start something new.

If you’re planning to look for a new job this year and you know that you’ll need English, either because the CV has to be in English or because you’ll need to speak English at the interview, you may want some extra help with the preparation.

My 20 tip factsheets are still available, so if you’re looking for free tips on preparing a good English CV or performing well at interviews, you can head over to my career page, where you can sign up for them.

I now offer one-to-one training on English CVs, interview preparation and English profiles on Xing or LinkedIn. There is also a special deal if you sign up for two sessions.

As part of the launch of this new training, I am giving away two free sessions in a prize draw. Winners just need to sign up using the form below:

What are the benefits?

Preparing a good CV in English is not just about translating your text from your native language into English. The language needs to flow well, the grammar needs to be right and, if you’re applying for a job in an English company, the CV should include all of the information that a potential employer would expect and it should not include anything that they don’t need to see.

Going for an interview is a nerve-wracking process at the best of times, but even more so if you have to talk about yourself and your experience in another language. Good preparation, in which you answer relevant questions and receive help and encouragement to portray yourself positively and confidently, will put you at an advantage when it comes to doing the real thing and speaking in front of potential employers.

Having an English social media profile on Xing or LinkedIn can enable you to get your message or your product in front of a whole, new, English-speaking audience. However this will only be of benefit to you if you communicate well and don’t have grammar or language mistakes that cause prospective customers to go elsewhere. Having worked both in communications and teaching, I can help you to improve your social media profile.
