My next visitor in Berlin was Marta Pagans.
I first got to know Marta when she participated in one of my language challenges. Since then I’ve seen her grow in confidence, giving talks in English at my conversation club and featuring twice on my podcast! I love the way that she sets herself a goal, does the work needed to reach it, and keeps going till she’s achieved what she set out to!
Marta is originally from Barcelona and has lived in Germany since 2002. She is a freelance translator who works from German and English into Spanish and Catalan, specialising in marketing and advertising.
After many years of struggling with self-doubt, impostor syndrome and a fierce inner critic, Marta now offers consultancy services for fellow translators and interpreters, focusing on marketing and time management. What she enjoys most is encouraging people to believe in themselves and helping them to overcome their perfectionism when needed.
We spent the whole day together and didn’t run out of things to say! We spoke both German and English, doing a kind of language exchange!
We attended our first LocLunch in-person event – more about that in the next post – but it was so nice to show up with a friend!
In the afternoon, we had thought about visiting a museum, but it was a lovely day and we wanted to see a bit more of the city and enjoy the nature. So we walked along the river, found a nice park, said “”hi”” to some adorable dogs and their people, and had conversations on all kinds of topics, stories, and plans for the future.
As well as meeting her own goals, Marta is also good at encouraging other people to put their own plans into action! So any German speakers – look out for my online German networking events, which will be coming soon! (Update, we’ve now had 4 networking events in German and they’ve become a regular part of my calendar! Check the events calendar for the latest list.
Thank you for such a lovely day Marta! It was great to have the time to get to know you better!
